Tseng won the LPGA Founders Cup on Sunday in Phoenix for her 14th LPGA Tour title and second in four events this year. The 23-year-old Taiwanese star led the tour last season with seven victories ?a including major victories in the LPGA Championship and Women's British Open ?a and take care of the entire year with 12 worldwide titles.
Tseng finished with a birdie for the par-4 ninth after dropping a stroke for the par-3 eighth when she drew a hard lie in the greenside bunker.
"It connected the bunker," Tseng said. "I did not have a fantastic lie there. I chipped out decent to six feet callaway diablo edge irons and merely missed (the putt) slightly to the right."
For the ninth, her approach shot hit the left side from the fringe and kicked to the green, visiting rest 3 feet in the hole.
"I think I hit a fantastic shot," Tseng said. "Sometimes you hit a fantastic shot, you will get good luck along with a good bounce."
Tseng hit eight of 14 fairways and 12 of 18 greens in regulation.
"I didn't hit lots of fairways," Tseng said. "This greens is very narrow and also the rough is absolutely long. If you don't hit the fairways, it's form of hard to get near the pin."
Oh, a two-time LPGA Tour winner who fought a hip injury the last two seasons, also had six birdies plus a bogey ?a also on No. 8 ?a on La Costa's Legends Course. She hit almost one fairway.
"Everything is good for me," I'm really calm," Oh said. "My shot is really good, i really have a very good score."
Hedwall, from Sweden had seven Ping Anser Forged Irons birdies and two bogeys.
"I've been hitting it very solid lately," Hedwall said. "I felt like basically will have a good day, I could shoot low. I made a large amount of birdies making it close, to ensure that helped a whole lot."
Suzann Pettersen, Jiyai Shin, Brittany Lincicome and hometown star Jennifer Johnson were a stroke back
Pettersen played alongside Tseng.
"I really wanted to produce that last putt because she would definitely make hers to venture to 5 under," Pettersen said. "It's a pleasant edge, it kind of gets you focused only a fraction bit more."
The 20-year-old Johnson is really a La Costa member.
"You definitely possess some expectations by yourself," Johnson said. "But the greens certainly are a little bumpy, and I think that is where We've the bonus, just knowing sometimes they do not break."
